Sure, I Do Commissions, Why the Hell Not?

Goodnight Sweet Prince, 24″ x 18″, oil on canvas, 2021.

2021 is turning out to be the year of the commission for me. Case in point this new painting of Walter and The Dude from one of my all time favourite movies, The Big Lebowski. This one is entitled: Goodnight Sweet Prince, because (spoiler alert), this is technically a portrait of three of the characters from the movie. Donnie’s ashes (he would be the aforementioned Sweet Prince) are in the Folgers can and the scene captured here is just moments before they are blown in The Dude’s face. Damn, I love that movie! Also, if you recall a couple of weeks ago I posted my painting of Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones, which was also a commission and the fourth of the year so far. And guess what? I’ll be starting on the fifth one after I finish writing this post! Cha Ching!

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to have these commissions. The fact of the matter is, I’m going to spend the bulk of my time painting so it’s nice to know when I’m working on something that it will be sent to a new home as soon as it’s dry enough to leave my studio. But the fact is, I still have a lot of paintings for sale. For example, I still have the paintings I did of Walter and the Dude last year (not to mention The Jesus) available. The client who ordered the new painting really wanted to see that moment from the movie painted in my signature style, and I was happy to do it! It was actually a new challenge. I mean, I have done it before (I’m looking at you Here’s Johnny) but this one was more elaborate and the client specifically asked for the background from the scene to be painted. So as you can imagine it was a lot of fun for me. And I feel pretty confident that one of these days, Walter, The Dude and The Jesus will find a new home (or homes) eventually. It’s just a matter of finding the right buyer(s). So this painting is icing on The Big Lebowski cake, so to speak.

Having said all this I still need to find ways to sell some of the paintings I have “in stock”. One thing I’ve done recently is to sign up with an upstart art selling platform called Koji Street. As of this writing I have 8 paintings for sale on their platform. But because they are so new, I’m not planning to upload any more for a while because I don’t want to overwhelm their platform. I could easily make it basically look like my website and that just wouldn’t be fair to the other artists. But if you do feel like buying one of the paintings on there feel free to go ahead and do it! It’ll help them out a lot since, as I say they are brand new. And hey, it’ll help me out a bit too. Plus, then I can upload different ones. Perhaps, The Dude? Walter? The Jesus?

So anyway, to make a short story long, I’m happy to continue to do commissions. So if there is anything you want, please let me know and I can give you a quote! Also, one of these days I’ll be making changes to this website, so you should be able to buy my work directly off of the site (hopefully with one click), rather than having to DM me on Instagram or Facebook which some potential buyers may not be as comfortable with.
